Barka Foundation (Netherlands) is committed to supporting vulnerable EU citizens, mainly from Central and Eastern Europe, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. With their important work for people seeking help, it was time for a new website that not only tells the foundation’s story but is also easily accessible to its target audience.
The old website was outdated and difficult to maintain, making it time for a fresh start. Together with Daphne Stapel, we created a new website. The result is a calm, well-structured layout where visitors can quickly find the information they need.
We ensured that relevant information is always within easy reach. With an interactive location map, people seeking help can immediately see where they can receive support and find the contact details of the relevant location. The “I am looking for help” button provides quick access to nearby support workers, who often also speak the help seekers’ language. This significantly lowers the threshold for asking for help.
In addition, the website is available in six languages: Dutch, English, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, and Bulgarian. This allows us to reach even more people and help them with their questions.
To support the foundation’s valuable work, a donation option has been added, with payments available via iDEAL and PayPal. This makes it easy for anyone to contribute to this important cause.
Finally, an integration with Mailchimp was implemented, allowing people to subscribe to the newsletter directly via the website and receive it automatically after signing up.

How the project was received
View website“The collaboration with Tes was very pleasant and relaxed from the start. We had a clear idea of what we wanted, but no idea how to put it into words properly or translate it into a website. Tes managed to understand our often abstract thoughts surprisingly well and turn them into a clear and strong concept. The end result is a website that clearly reflects our vision, looks professional, and is logically structured. Everything fits and feels well thought out. We are proud of what has been created and continue our collaboration with great confidence.”
